RICHIE RAMONE |
|
Richard Reinhardt (also 'Beau') was born on August 11, 1957. He is better known as Richie Ramone. He joined the Ramones in 1983 after second drummer Marky Ramone was forced to leave the band due to his alcoholism. Richie left the band in 1987 because he thought that he wasn't getting paid enough for his work. He had also stated on the documentary "The End of the Century: The Story of the Ramones" that "There was some money made with the sell of t-shirts at that time. When it came to t-shirt money, I wasn´t a Ramone. Then I was just another hired guy.". He was temporarily replaced by Clem Burke (who went under the name "Elvis Ramone") for two gigs in Trenton, New Jersey, before the band asked Marky back. He accepted. Richie features on the albums Too Tough to Die, Animal Boy and Halfway to Sanity and played over 500 live shows with them. He also wrote the classic Ramones song, "Somebody Put Something In My Drink", which was written after he had his drink spiked with acid at a bar. Richie's wife contacted MyRamones.com to complain about incorrect information published about Richie Attending Joey's funeral. The corrected information is Richie wasn't invited to the funeral by Joey's family but attended anyway because Artura Vega invited him.
